Onoma ("we," "us," or "Onoma"), operated by Ryde Ventures B.V., is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

By using Onoma, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To provide, maintain, and improve Onoma.
  • AI Model Interaction: User Content may be securely processed by third-party AI models solely to generate Service Output. This processing is limited to fulfilling your requests and is never used to train or improve the models.
  • Security & Compliance: To monitor for fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Use.
  • Communication: To send updates, notifications, or respond to inquiries.
  • Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal requests.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR — Article 6)

We process personal data under the following legal bases:

Contract Performance (Art. 6(1)(b))

Used for creating and managing accounts, delivering the service, and processing User Content.

Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

Used for security monitoring, fraud prevention, service analytics, and product improvement (without identifying users). You may object to processing based on legitimate interest (see Section 8).

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a))

Used for optional features such as marketing communications and non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 8).

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal data. However, we may share data in the following circumstances:

A. Sharing with AI Models

To operate Onoma and generate model outputs, certain User Content may be processed by third-party AI providers. For the list of models we work with, please visit: askonoma.com/models. We may update this list as we integrate additional models.

Additional notes:

  • Data processed by these providers is handled securely.
  • We do not train models using your data.
  • Providers operate under strict confidentiality and data protection requirements.

B. Other Disclosures

  • Service Providers: Hosting, analytics, and infrastructure providers under confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request.
  • Safety & Security: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Onoma, users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • User Content: Stored until you delete it, or up to 12 months after account deletion, unless required by law.
  • Account Data: Retained for 5 years after account closure (standard Dutch record-keeping period).
  • Usage & Technical Logs: Retained for up to 90 days, unless needed for security investigations.
  • Backups: Retained for up to 30 days before automatic deletion.
  • Inactive Accounts: Accounts with no activity for 1 year may be deleted after prior notice.

6. Data Breaches

In the event of a personal data breach:

  • We will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours, where legally required.
  • If the breach poses a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users without undue delay.
  • Notifications will include information about the breach, its potential impact, and actions taken.
  • We will communicate via email or in-app notifications.

7. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in the Netherlands or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. When transferring data outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data.

Do not submit sensitive personal information such as passwords, cryptographic keys, or financial details. We are not responsible for harm resulting from the submission of such data.

  • Analytics Cookies (non-essential): Help us understand feature usage and improve performance.

Onoma is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Onoma may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these websites.
